RE-DI, ZOOMS and the calm before the storm

We got the HDCAM master for Mystery Team off to Sundance last week and the master for Toe To Toe off Tuesday - but just to keep things interesting - right before Xmas - the producers of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Undead, which makes it's world premiere at SLAMDANCE, decided to bring another editor and do a polish / re-cut to highlight the comedy. In three days - the film was shorter and even more fun - but all but one reel was basically re-cut with different takes, ect. The film was already color graded by our previous colorist Yohance Brown, but in a much earlier version of Scratch. There are enough new features in Scratch for working with RED, added to the fact we have a new colorist - Robbie Renfrow - upgraded our DI room with cineSpace Color management, new scopes and projection - we made a judgement call to "start from Scratch" - and just use Yohance's earlier work as a reference - we pulled new media onto the SAN, re-conformed - and started a new DI - today Robbie's into Reel 2 - so this film is getting on the airplane at the last moment. In other news, we've just added a brand new Optimo 24-290mm zoom and an Optimo 17-80mm zoom to our inventory as we start to ramp up our rental inventory. Much more to come as I try to get in the habit of posting more often here. I'll be bloggin and posting pics from the Sundance / Slamdance - Aldey, Pliny, AJ and I are all going attempt to snowboard for the first time - so THAT alone is worthy of some goofy pics. Not to mention out 70's themed VIP party on the 17th ...
