One of the coolest things I saw at NAB this year was OWC's Jupiter mini-SAS. This is based on new mini-SAS technology from LSI - the company that came out with this new mini-SAS switch for under $2100.
The price of mini-SAS HBA's is dirt cheap ($350 - ish) - so this looks to be the super cheap, super FAST solution for sharing storage, moving tons of huge 4K renders between raids and workstations, etc. It also has some obvious applications for mobile labs, etc.
I think the target ship date for Jupiter is June - and they are working on qualifying various SANs on the platform. They had Meta-San running in the booth but mentioned they are testing Xsan/Stornext.
